Just wanted to post how much enjoy using mw lures. I have been trying other lures but I am now pretty much ignoring them, except for regretting how much $ I wasted on them! I've found compared to the others I can cast the mw's so much further to cover more territory and they are pretty much indestructible (which comes in handy since I am really good at bouncing them off the rocks!). Even my seven year old has had good luck with these...

no photos yet, but I did have a mean hit with a 1/2 oz red today. Screaming reel and everything, the it came off. Sad

Of course I would love to have landed the fish but still fun.... Very Happy

Not sure what a wire trace is but I do have a macmahon (sp?) swivel on. Makes it easy to switch out the lures and gives a little extra "bite" insurance. I ordered the swivels from cabelas.

Hi Fishergirl,

What we call a wire trace down here, is a little piece of steel wire that we place between the leader and the lure. Between 10 to 20 inch usually. We use them when we target big macks or anything that's really toothy.
We use them a lot for jigging, but not so much for surface spinning as there is often less strikes with them if the fish see it.

I have never used it with a MW lure yet.

oh okay. I typically have 15lb braid to a 30lb flourocarbon leader to my swivel and lure with my current set up. Works pretty good so far!

not a papio but a huge trumpet fish. Good fun but slimy!!! It was about 5 ft long and it inhaled this 1 oz black.

When did the oama lures come out? Is it labeled as an "oama lure"? or is it just a color we have to look for?

it is a new color that just came out. Should be in stores now or you can order from mw online. I can't remember if it was labeled but it has a green top that fades into more of a flesh color on the bottom.

3. yes 3 papio landed yesterday on the same oama lure! Woo hoo! Even had a 10 pounder chasing after the last papio, too bad he didn't jump on!

I'm looking on the website. What color is the oama one? Is it called Yellow/Green? I want to place an order since the shops here on oahu don't seem to carry them yet.

no, the yellow and greens are a different color. I don't know, maybe ask the stores if they are bringing them in so you don't have to pay shipping?

fishergirl, been reading about all your exploits on this and HFF forums for a while. Wish My wife loved to fish. I agree, MW makes some awsum lures, I go straight to him online to order and get them in a few days. Keep having fun, and tight lines.

just got my 1/2oz. oama lure today. landed some good size omilu's. didnt have my camera so no pics. both werent legal so was released. does anyone know where i can get tags?
