Hi there,
Yesterday I went to one of my favourite land based spot, near Darwin in the Top End of Australia.
I went there by push bike.
So By the time I arrived there, it was still dark, but no more rain, and a very flat sea.
So there I am tying this black lure made of ceramic on my line and wondering if I was not mad to use a lure made of ceramic from the rocks...
Well, no...
I actually bumped it a few time on some rocks during retrieve and it survived just fine.
I could just barely see the lure coming back to me, as fast as I was able to get it back, leaving a nice bubble trail behind him. And the more it went the more I could ear and see some big splash along the lure...
Even one big fish got so close that it nearly beached itself on the rocks just at my feet and made me jump when he slapped his tail all over the shop.
Then for a small hours it went crazy, just the way I like it!
It was a Queenfish hitting the lure every cast!
I landed 5, keep 2 and released 3 of them.
And missed a lot more...
Once hooked they were jumping like circus workers.
Then the light came up, and things slowed a lot.
I then proceed to loose a pretty big Queenie (In the meter range), who spat the lure, and also a nice big Trevally who cut my line on a rock...
I also found, once the light was on, a cast net on the rock...
A friend of mine who came a little latter took it with him.
So over all it was a very nice morning, and I might go back tomorrow morning, albeit a bit latter, as I have the morning off.
And this was the first time I had some success with a Mark White lure.
I was using a 1oz black with red eyes, working them with the rod tip high as fast as I could.
So the lure was skipping on the surface of the water.
Have a good day,
Pecheur
