| You have to take into consideration the time of year right now. During the winter papio and ulua are not as aggressive so the bite will be alot slower. Also you can't expect to catch something every time you go fishing, I've gone weeks without a strike or hook up. But don't loose hope, your persistence will pay off eventually. Good luck and be safe. | |

| Thanks for posting the pic of my fish Mark, I've been very lucky so far this year! I hope this is a indicator of what the rest of the year will be like! | |

| PZH145, my set up is on the high end for whipping. My reel is a shimano Stella 5000sw, my rod is a custom made job using a St croix 10ft blank, alps aluminum reel seat, and fuji k series titanium guides. Line is 50lb power pro connected to 50lb Seaguar fluorocarbon leader by a fg knot. The leader is about 8ft long. Now keep in mind you don't need to go this extrem for your set up as far as rod and reel. A reel with a high gear ratio and good drag is a good place to start. For rods look for one that has the same lure wt as the MWs that you want to use, and length should be 8-10ft, but idk the type of areas you whip. I hope some of this helps. Also check out Marks suggestions in the tech section of this forum. Tight lines and be safe. | |
